The New Zealand under-17 women's football team have finished their invitational tournament in Los Angeles with a 5-1 loss to China.
It's been a frustrating tour for the Young Football Ferns, losing all three matches - hosts the USA beat them 2-0 while Japan won 5-0 in the opener.
New Zealand coach Jitka Klimkova says their experience at the four-team tournament has given his side practical experience with dealing with the challenges of top level play.
The Young Football Ferns now return home to complete their preparations for the FIFA under-17 Women's World Cup, to be held in Costa Rica in March.
