Golden duck for Ryder, Auckland's chances over

Jesse Ryder's followed up his unbeaten century for Otago by falling for a golden duck in the final innings of Otago's Plunket Shield match against Central Districts in Nelson.

Chasing 412, Ryder was caught first ball, followed quickly by Black Caps team-mate Nathan McCullum, the spinner also dismissed for a golden duck to have the Volts struggling at 20 for four.

The visitors recovered thanks to another international, Jimmy Neesham, putting on 147 but it was to no avail for their hopes of victory, the match ending in a draw.

Elsewhere, Auckland's chances in the competition ended as they lost by 64 runs to Canterbury in Christchurch, while Northern drew with Wellington in Karori.
