Glen Moss to captain All Whites in Japan

12:28 pm on 11 February 2014

The Wellington Phoenix goalkeeper Glen Moss will captain the All Whites in their football friendly against Japan in Tokyo next month.

Moss gets the captain's armband with Winston Reid remaining in England as he makes his return from an ankle injury.

The squad includes six players from the Junior All Whites side that played in the Fifa under-20 World Cup last year, Tim Payne, Cameron Howieson, Storm Roux and Bill Tuiloma, while Ryan Thomas and Tyler Boyd are set to make their senior debuts.

Neil Emblen has been named interim coach as New Zealand Football continues its search for a replacement for Ricki Herbert.

The search for Herbert's replacement has been put off until the new chief executive Andy Martin started this month.

Outgoing chairman Frank van Hattum said they would be looking overseas.

The All Whites play World Cup bound Japan in Tokyo on March 5th.
