Neesham and Latham replace Ryder and Bracewell in second test squad

The Otago allrounder Jimmy Neesham and Canterbury batsman Tom Latham have been added to the New Zealand Cricket squad for the second test against India, starting in Wellington on Friday.

The pair fill the vacancies left by Jesse Ryder and Doug Bracewell who were dropped from the squad, for late night drinking ahead of the first test in Auckland.

However New Zealand Cricket's selection manager Bruce Edgar says Neesham isn't necessarily a straight replacement for Bracewell, which indicates he could replace legspinner Ish Sodhi in the playing eleven if New Zealand doesn't play a front line spinner.

Latham is there as cover for Ross Taylor, who is awaiting the birth of his second child.

If the the baby hasn't arrived by the start of the test Latham will play instead of Taylor.

New Zealand lead the two test series one-nil.

The full squad is:

Brendon McCullum (c), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Peter Fulton, Tom Latham, Jimmy Neesham, Hamish Rutherford, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Kane Williamson.
