Phoenix thrashed at home by Heart

7:10 pm on 16 February 2014

The Wellington Phoenix have been humbled 5-0 by the Melbourne Heart in their A-League football clash in the capital.

The result's a huge shock with the Phoenix the form side this year - they had six wins and a draw in their last eight outings before Sunday's upset, and had lifted themselves to sixth place on the ladder and into playoff contention.

And if the A-League table were based only on 2014 results, the Phoenix would have been outright top.

But that's counted for nought at Westpac Stadium, with the Heart showing they won't settle for last place. The visitors led 2-0 at half-time. It's the Heart's first away win in 23 matches.
