Chiefs thrash Blues

The Chiefs have thrashed the Blues 43-19 in their final pre-season Super Rugby trial match in Rotorua on Friday night.

The Crusaders romped past the Hurricanes in Levin, winning 41-15. The All Blacks captain Richie McCaw making his first appearance for the Crusaders this season off the bench.

The New South Wales Waratahs edged the Highlanders 19-16 in Newcastle, while the Tokoroa-born Wallabies star Quade Cooper was stretchered off Ballymore, as the Melbourne Rebels upset the Queensland Reds 18-13.

Cooper will undergo precautionary scans.

Elsewhere, the Western Force thrashed Samoa 'A' 54-12 in Perth, and the ACT Brumbies beat an ACT XV 38-7 in Canberra.
