A somewhat unfortunately-timed New Zealand Herald column criticising New Zealand's Winter Olympics team has drawn a sharp response from one of the athletes on Twitter.
Journalist Dana Johannsen wrote a piece in this morning's paper slating the athletes for waving to the camera at the end of their runs, and said following our team in Sochi was like "watching a bunch of Kiwis on an expensive skiing holiday".
Johannsen also criticised freeskiier Jossi Wells for giving up on his final slopestyle run after an early mistake cost him any chance of a top score.
This morning Wells came fourth in the halfpipe competition, the country's best result since Annelise Coberger's silver medal in 1992, and now Well's brother Byron has Tweeted a response to Johannsen.
Byron Wells says Jossi just came fourth in an event he hardly skis, and Johannsen should have some respect for the athletes risking their lives representing their country.
