New Delhi's chief minister Sheila Dikshit says India is somewhat nervous over the build-up for next year's Commonwealth Games.

Serious concerns have been raised over the games next October after Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell wrote to organisers.

The Jamaican official has asked for a meeting with Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh to directly seek his help when the federation general assembly meets in New Delhi from October 6.

The minister says they won't allow the Commonwealth Games to suffer because they're a matter of great pride.
