Eureopean champions to open New York office

The European football champions Bayern Munich are set to open their first overseas office - in New York - from April 1 to help them break into the North American market.

The Champions League holder's Manhattan office will initially start with three employees, including Colorado-born managing director Rudolf Vidal, a former reserve team goalkeeper and an employment lawyer with marketing experience.

Manager Pep Guardiola has scheduled at least two games for his team in late July in New York and Portland.

Late last year, the US-broadcaster Fox announced a five-year deal with the German Football League that will give them broadcast rights in the Americas and Asia starting in 2015/16, which will open the Bundesliga to a much wider market.
