India beat Bangladesh first up

The Indian cricketers have beaten Bangladesh by 6 wickets in their first match at the Asian Cup one-day tournament in Fatullah.

The Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim hit 117 off 113 balls as the hosts scored 279 for 7.

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli, standing in for injured Mahendra Singh Dhoni, then smashed 136 off 122 balls to steer India past the challenging target in 49 overs.

Defending champions Pakistan, who were beaten by Sri Lanka in yesterday's tournament opener, take on minnows Afghanistan tonight.
