North America's first openly gay athlete in the Major Leagues, basketball player Jason Collins' number 98 jersey has become the NBA's best selling shirt this week.
After publicly coming out as gay in April last year, Collins' was unable to find a team until last weekend when the Brooklyn Nets signed him on a 10-day contract.
Collins played his first game for the Nets on Sunday and in a show of support fans have rushed to buy his number 98 jersey which became the best seller 2 days later, outperforming some of the leagues biggest stars.
The Brooklyn Nets will play the Portland Trail Blazers today with Collins wearing the best selling number 98.
