5:50 am on 28 February 2014

Four Australian professionals top the leaderboard after the first round of the New Zealand golf Open in Arrowtown.

Andrew Dodt, Terry Pilkadaris and Jake Stirling all fired rounds of six-under par 66 in the cool morning conditions at the Millbrook Resort and they were joined by Scott Strange who shot the best of the afternoon rounds.

The Australian quartet holds a one shot advantage over another group of players that includes New Zealander Mark Brown.

All of the hot scoring came from the Millbrook Resort with just one player from the top nine playing on the Hills.

The players swap courses today.
