ICC fines Warner for scuffing comments

5:50 am on 28 February 2014

The International Cricket Council has fined the Australian batsman David Warner $3,000 for acccusing South Africa of ball tampering during the second test in Port Elizabeth.

Warner suggested in a radio interview that Australia should should ask the umpires about the legality of the Proteas' wicketkeeper AB de Villiers using his glove to "wipe the rough side every ball".

The issue has dominated the lead-up to the series decider starting tomorrow at Newlands in Cape Town, though the home coach Russell Domingo says it's fired up his team.

Warner's indiscrections in the past year have cost him 20-thousand dollars.
