Aitken backs out-of-sorts shooter ahead of must-win Test

Silver Ferns coach Ruth Aitken is backing her out-of-sorts shooter Irene van Dyk, confident she can turn things around against Australia in Invercargill on Sunday.

Down 2-1 in the five-Test series, the Silver Ferns must win to keep alive their hopes of a series win.

They lost the last Test in Brisbane by three goals with van Dyk turning in a poor shooting performance amid some torrid Australian defence.

Her success rate was around 75 percent when she usually shoots at 90 with the Australian now expecting van Dyk to be moved to goal attack for Sunday's match.

Aitken says the three feet the defenders are supposed to give the shooters also seems to be getting shorter.
