Tuivasa-Sheck set for round one return

The Sydney Roosters have confirmed star winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will make his return from a leg injury in Thursday's NRL season opener against South Sydney.

The international winger of the year fractured his leg in New Zealand's World Cup final loss to Australia in November last year.

Under doctor's orders Tuivasa-Sheck played 40 minutes at fullback for the Roosters' feeder side Newtown against Penrith on Sunday after missing the tricolours' World Club Challenge win over Wigan the night before.

The 20-year-old had limited touches in the 52-4 rout, which the Panthers led 34-4 at the break, but his trademark sidestep was back.

He came through the fixture unscathed and NRL premiers the Roosters confirmed he is available for the clash with bitter rivals Souths.

Meanwhile, Roosters prop Isaac Liu will miss the opening month of the season after suffering a knee injury at the Auckland Nines.
