The Crusaders say All Black captain Richie McCaw will still play a major role in their Super rugby campaign even if he's out for the injured for the next couple of months.
McCaw suffered a broken thumb in the side's loss to the Blues in Auckland on Friday night and could be out for up to eight weeks.
McCaw's due to see a specialist in the next couple of days to decide whether he needs surgery although assistant coach Dave Hewett doesn't believe they lose too much in bringing in Matt Todd.
