Pulse best New Zealand team despite loss?

The Adelaide coach believes the Central Pulse are the strongest New Zealand team in the trans-tasman netball competition, despite the Wellington based side's heart-breaking 45-44 loss in Porirua.

The hosts falling agonisingly short of upsetting the defending champions in their opening game of the competition, blowing a final quarter lead as the Thunderbirds extended their winning streak to 14.

The Thunderbirds coach Jane Woodlands-Thompson says on the evidence of last night the Pulse are genuine title contenders and New Zealand's best team.

The Pulse's defeat leaving the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic as the only New Zealand winners from the first round of competition.
