Pulse turnovers cost them opening round upset

The Central Pulse captain Katrina Grant knows her side blew a prime opportunity to upset last year's defending trans-tasman netball champions and concedes they must be more clinical if they're to become genuine title contenders.

Leading into the final quarter in Porirua the hosts fell to a last-gasp winning shot to lose to Adelaide 45-44, the Thunderbirds extending their unbeaten streak to 14 games.

The home side never trailed by more than two but turnovers crippled them and Silver Fern Grant concedes there's no room for error against the unrelenting Australians.

Adelaide are now just one short of the league record winning streak of 15 set by the Queensland Firebirds in 2011.
