Adams had point to prove at world indoor champs

Valerie Adams felt she had a point to prove in winning her latest world shot put title at the world indoor athletic champs in Poland.

It was her first overseas event since having knee and ankle surgery last September and Adams admits she was a little unsure on how she'd perform.

She needn't have worried for all five of her throws were over the 20 metre mark and would have won her the title with her best 20.76 metres well ahead of Christina Schwanitz of Germany who threw of 19.94 metres

Adams has now won 44 competitions on the trot an unbeaten run that goes back to August 2010.

Her latest title earns her $50,000 in prizemoney.

Meanwhile Nick Willis has been disqualified for an illegal lane change after finishing fourth in the 1500m final.

The disqualification costs him $10,000 in prize money, which he would have otherwise won.

It's Willis' second disqualification at the world indoor championships.

In 2008 in Valencia he was disqualified for the same violation after finishing fifth.
