Phoenix unimpressed over Huysegems' contract negotiations

The Wellington Phoenix are refusing to comment about the possible departure of striker Stein Huysegems, saying they're still in negotiations with the former Belgian football international.

Huysugem's Melbourne-based agent Dragan Jetvic says negotiations are at an impasse and told football website the World Game that the striker is looking elsewhere in the A-League, Asia and possibly back in Belgium.

Huysegems, who turns 32 in June, wants a two-year deal but has been offered a one-year extension and Jetvic says he's all but resigned to leaving the club.

The Phoenix general manager David Dome doesn't seem hopeful of retaining Huysegems but is unimpressed by Jetvic's comments, saying the club doesn't carry out player negotiations through the media.
