NRL review chief expects flak over controversial decision

The National Rugby League's review cheif Greg McCallum has defended the decision to allow Parramatta's star Jarrod Hayne to escape with the lowest possible charge over a kneeing incident during the Eels win over the Canterbury Bulldogs at the weekend.

The decision means Hayne is free to play in Sunday's Grand Final, setting up a mouth-watering fullback battle between the game's best player and the Melbourne Storm superstar Billy Slater.

McCallum says he's prepared for accusations of preferential treatment and double standards after the Storm's captain Cameron Smith was ruled out of last year's Grand Final for a grapple tackle.
