Palmer wins three on busy night at short course champs

North Shore swimmer Hayley Palmer's had a successful evening at the New Zealand short course swimming championships in Christchurch, picking up three titles, including a New Zealand record.

The 20 year old took out the women's 50m butterfly, 100m individual medley and 100m freestyle honours, while knocking nearly half a second off the New Zealand record in the medley, winning in 1:01.24.

In other results, Corney Swanepoel comfortably won his favoured 50m butterfly, but could only manage second in the 100m freestyle, edged out by fellow world championship teammate Michael Jack.

Kurt Bassett scooped the 200m backstroke, Queensland's Daniel Leston took out the 400m individual medley, while Dunedin's Phoebe Williams and Katie Kenneally won the 800m freestyle and 200 breaststroke titles.
