The Canterbury Tactix have scored their first win of the ANZ netball championship, upsetting the Central Pulse 55-53 in Napier.

The Pulse led by 6 at half time, but the Tactix stepped up, especially in attack in the second half with the Malawi shooter Mwai Kumwenda slotting all but 8 of her side's goals.

The Tactix led by 1 heading into the final quarter and as the Pulse made changes, the visitors were able to hold on for the win.

Meanwhile the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic consolidated their position at the top of the table with an impressive 49-44 win over Melbourne Vixens in Melbourne.

Leading at all the breaks, Magic maintained their unbeaten four-game run to start the season while consigning Vixens to their second successive home court loss.

The Pulse are now 5th and the Tactix are 9th.
