Moss Burmester has taken out the 200 metre butterfly on the final night of the national short course swimming championships at QEII in Christchurch.

The world short course champion powered home over the final 75 metres to win in a time just over a second outside his New Zealand record set in winning the world title last year.

Corney Swanepoel won the 50 metre breaststroke while Tash Hind, Melissa Ingram and Amaka Gessler made a clean sweep in the 200 metres freestyle.

Swanepoel was also second in the 50 metre freestyle to fellow Beijing Olympian William Benson and Ingram was second to Emily Thomas in the 50 metre backstroke.

Wellington teenager Samantha Lee broke her own open and age group record in winning the 100 metre butterfly to finish with three New Zealand age group records in all the butterfly distances.

The other titles went to Tim Dawson in the 100 metre individual medley, Grace Francis in the 200 metre individual medley and Dylan Dunlop-Barrett in the 1500 metre freestyle.
