New Zealand Cricket will be contacting the sport's international governing body the ICC and British Police to get an update on the investigation into match-fixing allegations surrounding former Black Cap Chris Cairns.
Cairns has confirmed in a statement that authorities have finally contacted him after international media reports late last year said he and two other former Black Caps were being investigated over allegations of match-fixing in the now defunct Indian Cricket League.
Cairns won a libel trial against Indian cricket powerbroker Lalit Modi in 2012 over claims of corruption in the ICL.
In December Cairns said neither the ICC or British police had spoken to him about the matter but in the statement Cairns says he will be engaging with them over the coming days.
A New Zealand Cricket spokeswoman says they were aware investigators were in the country but she was unsure if they were still here but would be following up with the ICC and Police overnight.
