The Indian Premier League teams the Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals will be allowed to play in this year's tournament despite being at the centre of an investigation into match fixing.
The Supreme Court in India granted the teams the concession as it installed batting legend Sunil Gavaskar as the interim head of India's cricket board and forced the incumbent N. Srinivasan from office.
Srinivasan was ordered to stand down while the investigation takes place.
On Thursday, the court threatened to pull Chennai and Rajasthan from the eight week competition.
Chennai are led by India skipper MS Dhoni and have New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum in their side, while Stephen Fleming is the coach.
The Royals are captained by Australia all-rounder Shane Watson and include New Zealand's Tim Southee.
