Black Caps apologise for poor peformance

The Black Caps bowling coach Shane Bond says they faltered under the pressure of a must-win match and concedes their problems with chasing totals is cause for concern.

New Zealand failed miserably in their attempt to reach the semi-finals of the Twenty/20 World Cup, losing to Sri Lanka by a humiliating 59 runs in their final group game in Bangladesh.

Chasing a modest 119 the Black Caps capitulated to be all out for just 60, their lowest ever T20 total.

Bond says there are no excuses for what he describes as an unacceptable performance.

He says they faltered under the pressure of a must-win match, and concedes their problems with chasing totals is cause for concern.

Sri Lanka will face the winner of Wednesday morning's final group two match between Pakistan and defending champions the West Indies in the semi-finals.
