West Ham all but safe from relegation

West Ham United have moved closer to safety in English football's Premier League and kept Sunderland in the relegation zone with a 2-1 away win.

The All Whites defender Winston Reid returned to the West Ham starting lineup, having recovered from an illness.

They're now 11th on the table with 37 points with Sunderland still second from bottom on 25 points, four points from safety with eight matches left to play this season.

With Leicester City well on track for automatic promotion from the second division Championship, Reid's set to be joined next season in the Premier League by New Zealand team-mate Chris Wood.

Leicester are likely to win the Championship - with eight games remaining, the Foxes are six points clear of second-placed Burnley and a massive 15 points above third-placed Queen's Park Rangers. Leicester need seven more points to guarantee automatic promotion to the top flight.
