Knights slam NRL over McKinnon tackle

6:05 am on 5 April 2014

The Newcastle Knights have slammed the National Rugby League for singling out Melbourne prop Jordan McLean for his role in the three-man tackle that has left Alex McKinnon with a serious spinal injury, saying the brothers Jesse and Kenny Bromwich should have also faced a judiciary hearing.

McLean was found guilty of a dangerous throw and suspended for seven matches at Wednesday night's judiciary hearing.

In a statement, Newcastle expressed their frustration with the inconsistencies of the NRL judiciary, and their disappointment that only McLean was charged.

The NRL has revealed that McLean's seven-match ban included a four-game penalty due to the severity of Alex McKinnon's injury.
