The New Zealand V8 Supercar drivers Fabian Coulthard and Shane van Gisbergen have come first and second in the opening race of the Winton 400 near Melbourne.
The New Zealand pair forged their way to the front of the grid in qualifying and then withstood three safety car re-starts before cementing the top two spots in the first 100 kilometre race.
In Saturday's second race Coulthard again started from pole position next to compatriot Scott McLaughlin.
Coulthard was beaten into third place behind race winner Lee Holdsworth while McLaughlin came last after retiring three laps from the finish.
The 200 kilometre race three is on Sunday.
