Waitakere make winning start to OFC Champions League

9:18 am on 12 April 2014

Two-time winners Waitakere United have begun their bid for a third OFC Champions League football title on a triumphant note with a 2-0 victory over Kiwi FC in Fiji.

Samoan representatives Kiwi are the underdogs of the tournament but acquitted themselves well and it took a couple goals from Sam French and Benjamin Totori to settle the match in Waitakere's favour in Lautoka.

Totori is the top scorer in the history of the competition and that strike took his total tally to 20.

Waitakere now turn their attention to Saturday's clash against Solomon Warriors with three points safely in the bag.
