Italian motorbike rider Emanuele Cassani has died of injuries sustained in a crash at the Coppa Italia season-opener.
The Italian motorsport body FMI said in a statement that 25-year-old Cassani collided with two other riders shortly after the start of the race on the Misano World Circuit.
Medical help was available immediately, but doctors were not able to save his life.
The other two riders suffered minor injuries.
The race was immediately stopped and the FMI said it's thoughts were with Cassani's family "in this difficult time".
