Steel prepare for critical game against the Pulse

5:56 pm on 14 April 2014

The Southern Steel play the Central Pulse tonight in what's essentially a must-win game for the Dunedin based side if they're to keep their trans-Tasman netball season alive.

The Steel have lost four of their six games and would face an uphill battle to make the playoffs if they drop another.

They took a step backwards last week when they lost to the Northern Mystics, a week after their first ever win in Australia, over the Adelaide Thunderbirds.

The coach Janine Southby says while Jamaican goal shoot Jhaniele Fowler-Reid is capable of scoring in excess of 45 goals a game, captain Jodi Brown's contribution at goal attack is also influential.

The midcourt lynchpin Phillipa Finch, who went down to a calf injury during last week's warmup, is available for tonight's game in Invercargill.
