The 17-year-old Liam Stone will become the first male diver to represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games since 1998.

Auckland-based Stone will be the only New Zealand diver competing at the Glasgow Games and will be in the one metre and three metre springboard events.

Bay of Plenty's Wayne Cobb was the last New Zealand male to compete at the Commonwealth Games, finishing 11th in the one metre springboard competition at the Kuala Lumpur Games.

Stone currently holds 10 national records and sits inside the Commonwealth's top six rankings.

All up New Zealand will have about 200 athletes attending the Games, competing in all 17 sports on the programme.
