The New Zealand surfer Paige Hareb HAS re-qualified for the Association of Surfing Professionals Women's World Tour after finishing the year ranked fourth on the ASP World Qualifying Series.

Hareb's 2009 ranking is three places higher than her seventh in 2008 which saw her become the first ever New Zealand surfer on the Women's World Tour.

Hareb placed fifth in the final event of the year - the Rio Pro in Brazil.

The five-star event had a lot riding on it for all the top ranked surfers and Hareb's fifth placing was enough to see her jump two places on the ratings for a career best finish.

Hareb needed to finish inside the top six for a guaranteed start on the 2010 Women's World Tour.

Hareb will now switch her focus to the more important Women's World Tour where she is currently ranked seventh.

She heads to Portugal and Peru for events before the end of season two-event showdown in Hawaii during December.
