The former New Zealand cricket captain Daniel Vettori is off to a winning start as coach of the Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Vettori handed his Black Caps team-mate Ross Taylor's team, the Delhi Daredevils, a heavy eight-wicket defeat in Sharjah.

Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh guided Bangalore home, Yuvraj smashing 52 not out off 29 balls and Kohli 49 off 38 as Bangalore chased down 145 in just 16 overs and four balls.

Sent in to bat, Taylor and South Africa's JP Duminy helped Delhi recover from a top-order collapse to post a competitive total of 145 for four.

Taylor hit an unbeaten 43 and Duminy 67 as the pair got the Daredevils back from 35 for four with an unbroken 110-run partnership.

But that was never going to be enough, especially when the Black Cap Jimmy Neesham dropped Kohli when he was on 23, and the Indian star got another life later that very same over.
