The Sydney league club West Tigers have ruled out re-signing club great Benji Marshall who's seeking an immediate release from his Super Rugby contract.
The former Kiwi league skipper has failed to make an impression in limited opportunities for the Auckland-based Blues during eight Super Rugby games since his move from the Tigers at the end of last season.
West Tigers chief executive Grant Mayer says the club has moved on from Marshall, and they don't have room for him within their salary cap.
The Blues and New Zealand Rugby have both confirmed they've received a request from Marshall to be released early from his contract, and he's asked his manager to open talks with NRL clubs.
Cronulla, St George Illawarra, Parramatta, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Warriors are all being linked to him, but less than a year ago Marshall pledged he would never play against the Tigers.
