Marshall needed better apprenticeship

The former All Black first five-eighth Stephen Bachop says Benji Marshall could have become a successful rugby union playmaker, if he'd served a better apprenticeship in the 15 player game.

The former Kiwis captain is seeking a return to Rugby League after half a season with the Blues Super Rugby franchise.

Bachop says Marshall wasn't given enough game time with the Blues and should've started in provincial rugby.

He says Marshall's only chance with the Blues was to learn the game from fullback, but the team has better players in that position.
