Badly injured Newcastle rugby league player Alex McKinnon has revealed he is getting more movement in his arms and has feeling in his legs, four weeks after suffering a severe spinal injury in a tackle.

McKinnon's posted a personal update on his progress in a video message on the Knights' website.

From his spinal rehabilitation ward at a Sydney hospital, the 22-year-old forward says it's been a tough month but there is a lot of improvement and he has a lot more movement in his right arm and a lot of movement back in his left arm.

McKinnon's hoping it's just a matter of time before he has a bit more movement in his legs, which he says have a great sensation and feeling to them, and there are lots of positive signs.
