The United States striker Charlie Davies might miss next year's World Cup football finals after being badly injured in a car crash.
23-year-old Davies suffered multiple facial fractures, a badly broken right leg, a broken left elbow and a lacerated bladder. The US team doctor says Davies' injuries would normally require a recovery period of 6-12 months, and intensive rehabilitation.
The accident claimed the life of a 22-year-old female passenger.
