Spain's reigning Tour de France champion Alberto Contador has played down the threat of a drugs probe that was launched a day before the presentation of next year's race.

Paris prosecutors have revealed they've launched an investigation after the discovery of suspicious medical equipment including "syringes and drips" during this year's Tour in July.

The Astana team that includes Contador and seven-times champion Lance Armstrong have emerged as the targeted team in the investigation, but Contador says they've been the most -watched team in the last year, and they have nothing to hide.

This year's Tour de France was remarkable for the fact that no riders tested positive during the race.
