The top of the table Melbourne Vixens have ruined Silver Ferns veteran Irene van Dyk's 100th trans-Tasman netball Championship game in Wellington, beating van Dyk's Central Pulse 52-40.

The Pulse rallied back from a 10-point half-time deficit after the Vixens put on an eight-goal run in the second quarter.

But the Vixens pushed back to lead 41-33 at the three-quarter mark.

Another Silver Fern, Liana Leota, made a dramatic return for the Pulse, just five weeks after giving birth.

The Pulse are now in must-win mode to make the playoffs.
