The New Zealand V8 super car driver Scott McLaughlin has qualified in pole position for Sunday's 200 kilometre feature race at Auckland's Pukekohe race track.

His compatriot Shane van Gisbergen will start the race in third while the only other New Zealander in the series, Fabian Coulthard, qualified 14th fastest.

McLaughlin started his Volvo from pole position in Saturday's second sprint race but dropped back to third behind van Gisbergen's winning Holden and second placed Mark Winterbottom driving a Ford.

Winterbottom took the lead in the series by winning race one and will start the feature race in fourth on the grid alongside van Gisbergen.
