One of the leading figures behind rugby's move into the professional era, Leo Williams, has died in Brisbane aged 68.
Williams was chairman of the Australian Rugby Union when SANZAR was formed, and with South Africa's Louis Luyt and New Zealand's Richie Guy he was one of the three signatories to the broadcasting contract with News Ltd which heralded rugby's move into the professional era.
Williams went on to become Chairman of Rugby World Cup Ltd from 1995 to 2000.
