The Golden State Warriors were prepared to boycott Wednesday's playoff game against the Los Angeles Clippers, had the National Basketball Association not sufficiently punished the Clippers team owner Donald Sterling over a racist comments scandal.
The Warriors opted to play in LA however, suffering a 113-103 loss to fall 3-2 behind in the best-of-seven series - but the contest was in jeopardy until NBA commissioner Adam Silver acted swiftly to punish Sterling.
The 80-year-old was also fined $2.9 million for racist comments that drew outrage from players, fans and commercial sponsors, and told to sell his team.
But the NBA commissioner didn't say that Sterling couldn't sell to family members, and the former NBA player Mike Ansley is concerned the saga isn't over yet.
Ansley says if Sterling sells to his wife, who was allowed to attend the win in Los Angeles, or doesn't sell, there will still be a boycott.
And he says he would've done the same thing as the Warriors, in their position, and boycotted the game, had he and the team not been happy with the outcome of the NBA's ruling.
The Clippers will aim to wrap up their Western Conference quarter-final series against the Warriors when they return to Oakland for Game Six on Friday.
