Foul-mouthed Maradona in trouble again

5:48 pm on 16 October 2009

Diego Maradona's obscene rant at his growing army of media critics after his side qualified for football's World Cup finals with a 1-0 win in Uruguay has draw a scathing reponse in Argentina.

The man who captained the 1986 World Cup winning team before alcohol and hard drugs nearly claimed his career erupted after the two time champions squeaked through 1-0 in Montevideo..

He'd been widely criticised for using 78 players and losing four matches, leaving Argentina on the verge of missing the finals for the first time in 40 years.

His outburst has been labelled provocative and insolent and 79 per cent of respondents to newpaper poll said he should be sacked for it.

But the Argentine football federation chief Julio Grondona thinks Maradona will continue in the job.
