Carrington sprints to more gold in Milan

New Zealand's Olympic champion Lisa Carrington has claimed a second gold at the year's first Canoe Sprint World Cup in Milan, cruising to victory in the K1 200, her strongest event.

The London Games gold medallist finished almost a second ahead of her nearest rival, adding the K1 200 gold to her Milan haul after winning the K1 500 event yesterday.

Carrington's impressive performances bode well for the 24-year-old as she builds towards August's Canoe Sprint World Champs in Russia.

The brand new women's K4 500m combo finished an impressive fifth in their final, with Teneale Hatton, Jamie Lovett, Aimee Fisher and Caitlin Ryan less than two seconds behind the Chinese winners.

Hatton was hoping to follow up on last years gold in the K1 5000m, but was disappointed to finish second despite the podium result.

The team now heads to Racice, Czech Republic, to do it all again at the second world Cup in a fortnight.
