Mark Selby upset five-times champion Ronnie O'Sullivan to win his first world snooker title with a magnificent 18-14 comeback victory in the final in Sheffield.
Selby, the world number three, trailed 10-7 overnight but won the first four frames of the day and led his fellow Englishman 12-11 going into the final session.
O'Sullivan, bidding to equal the six victories of Ray Reardon and Steve Davis, made a century in the opening frame of the last session but Selby stayed strong and compiled his first hundred break of the match to move 16-14 ahead.
O'Sullivan, ranked 33rd in the world after taking a break from the game, never found his normal fluency and the 30-year-old Selby closed out the match with a clearance of 35.
