Thunder go down to Clippers

6:42 pm on 6 May 2014

New Zealander Steven Adams had a quiet night as the Los Angeles Clippers drew first blood in their NBA basketball Western Conference semi-final series opener against his Oklahoma City Thunder.

Adams played 19 minutes for four rebounds, no blocks and no points as the Thunder were thrashed 122-105 in Oklahoma.

Clippers guard Chris Paul shot the lights out, missing just twice and slotting eight from nine from the three-point line in his game-high 32 points.

The visitors led 39-25 after the first quarter, 69-52 at half-time and by a mammoth 104-78 heading into the fourth quarter.

Game two of the best-of-seven series is on Thursday, also in Oklahoma.

Elsewhere, the Washington Wizards upset top-seeded Indiana 102-96 to open their Eastern Conference second-round playoff series.
