An experienced New Zealand road cycling team has been selected for Glasgow with two riders set to compete at their fourth Commonwealth Games.

The double Olympic medallist Hayden Roulston and 37 year old former world champion Greg Henderson will be competing at their fourth Commonwealth Games.

Also included in the eleven strong road squad is the five-time world championship medallist Linda Villumsen.

Five of the six members of the men's team currently ride for professional teams.

A young mountain bike team has been selected with 19 year old Anton Cooper and 18 year old Sam Gaze contesting the men's competition while Kate Fluker has been named for the women's event.

Olympian Karen Hanlen could be added to squad pending a medical clearance.

Bike NZ High Performance Director Mark Elliot says the team is expected to perform well and is probably the most experienced men's team sent sent to a Games in recent years.

The road and mountain bike team is:

Men's Road: Jack Bauer, George Bennett, Greg Henderson, James Oram, Hayden Roulston, Jesse Sergent.

Women's Road: Rushlee Buchanan, Emily Collins, Joanne Kiesanowski, Reta Trotman, Linda Villumsen.

Men's Mountain Bike: Anton Cooper, Sam Gaze.

Women's Mountain Bike: Kate Fluker.
